LAFC surpasses DC United and continues to lead the MLS

Kwadwo Opoku scored in the second half as Los Angeles FC beat D.C. United 1-0 on Tuesday to stay on top of the Western Conference and MLS.

The Ghanaian scored in the 67th minute, crowning a wonderful counterattack that was born in the boots of Carlos Vela in midfield. The Mexican advanced before sending a pass to Colombian Christian Arango, who entered the area from the right and gave way to the other flank, where Opoku had time to set the ball and shoot into the net.

Los Angeles reached 57 points, nine more than Austin, its closest pursuer in the West.

The two teams will play their next match on Saturday. LAFC visits the San Jose Earthquakes and United visits the Philadelphia Union, which leads the East with 48 points.

United is bottom of that conference, with just 22 points.
