West Ham United vs. Manchester City
Minute Commentary
90' FT: WEST HAM 1 MAN CITY 3
Manchester City climb up to fourth after recording their first away win of the season at Upton Park. Their opening two goals came from Sergio Aguero, his fifth and sixth of the campaign. The first was a clinical finish on 16 minutes that saw Fernandinho and Sergio Negredo involved in the build-up and the second six minutes into the second half was a rare headed effort from a David Silva free-kick that Aguero himself had won. Instead of pushing on for more goals City allowed a spirited West Ham side back into the game and the Hammers gave themselves hope with an overhead kick by Ricardo Vaz Te just before the hour. After some nervy moments the visitors finally put the game beyond doubt ten minutes from time, Aguero this time supplying the assist and David Silva producing a quality curling finish beyond Jussi Jaaskelainen.
90' WELL OVER THE BAR
Morrison has a half-chance to pull one back but under pressure he lifts his shot into the stands.
90' INTO STOPPAGE TIME
There will be a minimum of four minutes of added time.
88' PENALTY CLAIMS
Toure goes down clumsily in the West Ham box hoping for a penalty, but Mr Oliver is rightly not in the slightest bit interested.
86' UPWARDLY MOBILE
City are heading up to fourth with this victory, a point behind Chelsea and Liverpool and three adrift of Arsenal.
83' CHANGES FOR BOTH SIDES
City make their last switch, Stevan Jovetic taking the place of man-of-the-match Aguero. West Ham replace Nolan with Mladen Petric.
80' GOAL: WEST HAM 1 MAN CITY 3
City finally show some purpose again in the final third. Milner exchanges passes with Toure, whose initial shot is blocked. A second attack ends with Aguero laying the ball back to Silva, who curls a delightful left-footer into the corner.
78' DANGEROUS GAME
City have retreated back into their shell again since taking that two-goal advantage. Have West Ham got enough quality to make them pay?
75' CITY SUBSTITUTION
Another City change is defensively minded as winger Nasri is replaced by James Milner.
73' SPIRITED HAMMERS
You have to give West Ham credit for the way they have taken the game to City in this second half. Many teams would have thrown in the towel after going two goals down.
70' DOUBLE SAVE DENIES CITY
Fernandinho does well to hold up the ball before teeing up Aguero on the edge of the area. Jaaskelainen claws away the curling shot and is called upon again to deny Kolarov moments later.
67' CITY SUBSTITUTION
Now City look to shut up shop, with Aleksandar Kolarov taking the place of Negredo.
66' DOUBLE SUBSTITUTION
Demel cannot continue. He makes way for Joey O'Brien in a double switch which also sees Matt Jarvis replace Vaz Te.
65' INJURY WORRIES
Demel looks to be struggling badly with a leg injury at the moment.
64' CITY BOOKING
Clichy is cautioned after cynically pulling back Downing.
63' OFFSIDE CLAIMS
Looking at the replays, there was certainly a hint off offside about West Ham's opener. The flag could have gone up against first Diame and then the scorer himself on another day.
61' OFF THE CROSSBAR
Negredo is inches away from restoring City's two-goal cushion, beating Jaaskelainen with an angled drive which comes back off the crossbar.
58' GOAL: WEST HAM 1 MAN CITY 2
City have looked vulnerable in the past five minutes and Vaz Te pulls one back with a bicycle kick with Morrison supplying the assist.
56' BRAVE SAVE FROM HART
Hart makes an extremely brave save at the feet of Diame to deny the Senegalese. The points are by no means in the bag yet for the visitors.
54' CALL ON CARLTON
West Ham striker Carlton Cole was warming up vigorously on the pitch at the interval. He surely will be called into action before too long.
51' GOAL: WEST HAM 0 MAN CITY 2
The hard-working Aguero wins City a free-kick in a promising position after being sandwiched by two West Ham defenders. It pays dividends. Silva delivers, the unmarked Aguero bullets a header into the top corner.
50' RISKING A CAUTION
Toure is extremely lucky not to go in the book as Diame was barged off the pitch after the ball had gone.
48' PASS MASTERS
How comprehensively have City dominated this match so far? They outpassed West Ham 337-148 in the first half.
46' HERE WE GO AGAIN
City get the second half under way.
45' HT: WEST HAM 0 MAN CITY 1
Manchester City lead at the break and with steadier finishing in the early going could be out of sight already. The opener came from Sergio Aguero on 16 minutes, the Argentina striker latching on to a long pass from the back by Fernandinho after Sergio Negredo's dummy had befuddled the home defence. Aguero also forced two saves from Jussi Jaaskelainen and for a spell they almost threatened at will. Then City lost direction and allowed the home side back into the match. West Ham have not shown a great deal as an attacking force, but they can't be faulted for effort and while the score remains as it is, they retain some hope of turning this game around in the second half.
45' CONCERN FROM CORNERS
Not for the first time this season City look vulnerable from a corner, Clichy just getting enough on his header so that it evades the unmarked Tomkins at the far post.
42' DIVING SAVE DENIES TOURE
Reid gives the ball away carelessly to Silva, who tees up Toure. His piledriver is turned aside by the diving Jaaskelainen.
39' CROWDED OUT
Downing hangs up a dangerous cross from the right, but Vaz Te is crowded out and can get no purchase on his header.
37' TREATMENT FOR VAZ TE
Vaz Te is down needing treatment for what appears to be an ankle injury. Contact was minimal, he actually appeared to jump away from the challenge.
34' WEST HAM BOOKING
Despite his protests, Nolan is booked for going through David Silva to get to the ball.
33' FINE CLEARANCE BY GARCIA
Rat delivers a dangerous cross from the left, but Javi Garcia makes an excellent clearance to repel the danger. That could so easily have ended up in his own net had he got it wrong.
32' WIDE FROM NEGREDO
Negredo robs the flat-footed Tomkins of the ball on the edge of the West Ham box but pulls his shot well wide of the far post. The Hammers cannot afford to give City gifts.
30' TREADING A THIN LINE
Silva's actually got a claim to be the worst tackler in the Premier League with Paul Scholes now retired. He committed two similar offences against Everton last time out before finally getting booked.
28' CITY BOOKING
Silva is booked for a nasty tackle on Rat, who takes some time to get back to his feet.
26' HALF-CHANCE FOR WEST HAM
West Ham try to mount a response. Vaz Te crosses from the left, Diame's flicked header is wide of the mark and when the ball comes came back into the area Vaz Te miskicks. Groans all round from the home fans.
24' HAMMERS HANGING ON
City threaten again. Aguero is allowed to carry the ball across the West Ham box and gets in an innocuous shot that Jaasekainen spills. The goalkeeper is extremely lucky that one of his defenders was first to the loose ball.
22' MR CREATIVITY
Which player in action this evening has created more goal-scoring chances than any other Premier League player this season? Hard to believe, but it's actually West Ham midfielder Mark Noble.
20' CITY PUSH FOR ANOTHER
City go close to a second. Silva stands up a ball for Negredo, he nods it down to Aguero and the Argentina frontman shoots straight at Jaaskelainen.
17' MORE ON THAT GOAL
It's a lovely goal from City, but one West Ham will not want to see again. A long ball from the back by Fernandinho was dummied by Negredo, allowing Aguero to collect the pass with only the goalkeeper to beat and the rest was a formality. It's been coming, in truth. Only a great tackle from Reid moments before that prevented Negredo from getting clear.
16' GOAL: WEST HAM 0 MAN CITY 1
Sergio Aguero gives City the lead.
15' DIAME BLASTS WIDE
West Ham string together a pleasing move in midfield that ends with Diame cutting in off the left wing and driving a shot wide of the far post.
13' WRONG CHOICE
Silva slides a pass into the path of Negredo in an advanced position and he tries to pick out Aguero rather than shoot for goal. The chance is gone.
11' ATTACKING FROM DEEP
West Ham may be deploying a 4-6-0 formation with no recognised strikers, but they have shown plenty of attacking intent in the first ten minutes.
9' CLASH OF STYLES
City have scored 17 league goals this season, more than any other team in the top flight, but West Ham have kept four clean sheets, which ranks second behind Southampton. Something has got to give.
7' CHANCE GOES BEGGING
A wonderful lofted ball by Aguero over the Hammers defence finds Negredo all alone and onside, but the Spaniard's first touch deserts him and the chance is gone.
4' FINE TACKLE FROM NOBLE
Richards plays a one-two with Negredo, but his progress is halted inside the box by an excellent sliding tackle by Noble.
3' ATTACKING INTENT
City are on the attack straight way, but Negredo's low ball into the box is cut out before it can reach Aguero.
1' HERE WE GO
West Ham kick off, attacking the goal to our left.

0' TEAM NEWS
Unsurprisingly, West Ham stick with the side that humiliated Tottenham a fortnight ago. City boss Manuel Pellegrini makes five changes, drafting in Matija Nastasic, Micah Richards, Javi Garcia, Gael Clichy and Samir Nasri.
0' PREVIEW
West Ham welcome Manchester City to Upton Park for Saturday's late game in the Premier League with both sides in search of some consistency. The Hammers recorded one of the shock results of the season last time out, when they went to White Hart Lane and stunned high-flying London rivals Spurs, running out winners by three clear goals. Defeat that day would have left Sam Allardyce's men in the relegation zone and they will be anxious to turn around some patchy form at home, which has seen them lose their last two in front of their own fans to Stoke and Everton. If there has been one team consistently inconsistent in the opening two months of the season, though, it has to be today's opponents City. Majestic home displays against Newcastle and, in particular, Manchester United, have borne the hallmark of champions. But they then go and undo all the good work with scarcely believable away defeats at Cardiff City and Aston Villa, conceding three goals in each of those games. It's not the City way, but offer manager Manuel Pellegrini a scrappy 1-0 win here today and he would bite your hand off. Today's game kicks off at 1730BST, so join us around 30 minutes beforehand when we should have the confirmed team news, which will be followed by a match commentary.
0' PLAYERS TO WATCH
It's been quite an eventful few days for West Ham midfielder Ravel Morrison. He scored a sensational goal in the win at Tottenham a fortnight ago and followed it up with both goals (one a similar effort) in the 2-1 home win over Lithuania for Gareth Southgate's under-21 side on Tuesday. Shame he undid all the good work with an unseemly on-field spat with team-mate Wilfried Zaha, during which he thrust his hand into Zaha's face and pushed him away. That's the trouble with Ravels, you never quite know what you are going to get: [en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Revels_(confectionery)]. City will he hoping leading scorer Sergio Aguero adds to his four goals this season. They have won 28 and drawn two of the 30 Premier League games in which the Argentina forward has scored.
0' HEAD TO HEAD
City have the better head-to-head record in league meetings between the sides with 41 wins to 33 by West Ham and 14 games being drawn. At Upton Park, the Hammers have 24 wins to 11 by City, with a further nine meetings ending up all square. The corresponding match last season on Nov. 3 was one to forget. It finished in a goalless draw with the home side not registering a single shot on target. The return at the Etihad on Apr. 27 was a somewhat livelier affair, City winning 2-1 with goals from Sergio Aguero (28 mins) and Yaya Toure (83), Andy Carroll grabbing a consolation for the visitors in the last minute. City have won four and drawn two of the last six meetings.
0' FORM GUIDE
West Ham start the day in 13th place with eight points from seven games, five of which have been picked up away from home. City sit three points off the summit in fifth spot, with 13 points, 12 of which have been garnered at home. It has been a real struggle away from home, with Pellegrini's men joining bottom two Crystal Palace and Sunderland in being the only three sides in the top flight yet to record a league win on the road in 2013-14. They could do with solving this travel sickness quickly, particularly as this match is the first of four in a row away from home in three different competitions.
0' EARLY TEAM NEWS
West Ham will be without defender James Collins, who limped off during Wales' 1-1 draw with Belgium in midweek with a hamstring injury. Collins joins Andy Carroll (heel) and Alou Diarra (knee) on the sidelines. Carlton Cole, who rejoined the club on a short-term deal last week, is not yet fit enough to be considered. City captain Vincent Kompany is ruled out with a thigh injury and Martin Demichelis is not yet recovered from a knee problem. Midfielder Jack Rodwell, though, is available after a hamstring injury.
0' MAN IN THE MIDDLE
Today's referee is Michael Oliver, who made headlines in August 2010 when he took charge of the match between Birmingham City against Blackburn Rovers aged 25 years and 182 days, breaking Stuart Attwell's record as the youngest ever Premier League referee. It took Oliver a while to find his feet, and he had two early red cards overturned on appeal, but since then has proved himself to be an accomplished official. The Northumberland whistleblower has shown a total of 16 yellow cards in his four Premier League games to date this season, with no red cards and no penalties. In all, it's 24 Premier League matches since his last dismissal, Aston Villa's Ciaran Clark in the home defeat by Everton way back in August last year. Oliver's assistants today are Stuart Burt and Darren England, while Jon Moss is the fourth official.
